PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Fred Rogers, who gently invited millions of children to be his neighbor as host of the public television show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" for more than 30 years, died of cancer early Thursday. He was 74.

Out-of- Band Metadata

I wonder why the CD audio format did not include any metadata on the disc. The only data about the audio is on paper that accompanied the disc. This is good for error-correction, in the event that a disc is in the wrong case, but why wasn't the metadata included on the disc? Lack of room? Or lack of vision? If the metadata had been included on the disc, then we wouldn't have Various Artists performing every song in CDDB.
