After resolving some dependancies by forcing some package installs, and whatnot, I found that I was unable to login over SSH, because of the following error:
PAM pam_get_user: no conv element in pamhThe new version of PAM most likely didn't get along with the sshd(8) version that was still resident in memory. In any case, since I needed to pop a new kernel onto the bootloader, I just did that and rebooted.
