Go Ahead, Punk

Our fiends at Quark might release an OS X-only version of Quark XPress this century. Fine by me. Let's see which is the easier upgrade path. Given the traumas associated with upgrading from any previous version of Quark, my guess is that we'll see a lonely Quadra 700 in one corner, running one dongled version of Quark; a lonely beige G3 in another corner, running another; and the rest of the shop, not using Quark.

Time is Valuable

In May, 2002, I asked, what if we made the sale of our time more obvious? Today, Jenny Levine notes a Chicago Sun-Times article on two suits objecting to theaters' practice of showing advertisements before a movie.
One is against the Downers Grove company Classic Cinemas and the other against New York-based Loews Cineplex Entertainment, which also operates theaters here. The suits argue that the practice of showing the ads constitutes fraud, false advertising and breach of contract.
