Choosing Hardware

On the one hand. On the other. Certainly not this one. And that's only two vendors, and as many or more operating systems. I could throw another couple, or more into the mix, but who wants to confuse things?

On Convergence

Krzysztof Kowalczyk talks about subscribing to notifications and receiving them on whatever device is in your pocket, and then doing something with it.
In time communicators will obsolete "pure" mobile phones since they offer the same and much more. At the same time they can take the idea of notifications to the next level.

I don't think of this as device convergence. Instead, it is device generalization: a special-purpose device becomes a general-purpose device that just happens to run one application. A telephone becomes a general-purpose computer running a telephony application.

Infoworld Eliminates Idiotic Links in Every Story

Hey, Chad, I like the new InfoWorld design.
If you have any ideas or thoughts on the new site and the technology choices we made, let me know -- we're really excited about this design and look forward to building on it.

It's significantly less distracting now that the insignifcant links are removed from the stories. Now if you could just insert significant links....

Oh, and running 100% Pure Linux is cool too.

A Landtern

I did? You just made it today.
Look, it's a lantern. It's called a lantern because it lands.
she says as she places the gently sets the lantern down.
