[Business Week]: What is AOL's strategy on broadband?
[Leonsis]: The good news [with broadband] is we don't have to supply the connectivity. Somebody else does. If it's really good, we won't have people leaving because the connectivity is bad. So how do we justify the additional price? That will come from what we talked about -- how we'll make communications, community, content, and functionality "broadbandy."

Ted Leonsis seems to grasp the difference between the Internet Service Provider and Internet Access Provider roles. Now let's see if he can follow through on this. (Distinguishing between the ISP and access provider roles is the secret of Earthlink's success — what there is of it.)
