Small Town Postoffice

An Ethical Question

If you encounter a member who is publishing obscene materials, do you remove the account, report him to the authorities, and publish his name on the Internet? Or do you just go to his house and pummel him with a baseball bat?

WWDC

Interesting fruit coming out of Apple's WWDC. Mo' later, after I've read the news.

Troubleshooting Rule #1

Is the cable plugged in?

That wasn't the problem in this case, but close. When I left on Friday, my desktop had an active network connection. When I arrived today, it didn't. What changed? I had installed a Microsoft hotfix, but hadn't rebooted yet. The cable was good. The port was good. Windows 2000 saw the network interface card. But I couldn't get out.

What did I miss?

The network interface card wasn't fully seated in the PCI slot. And my cubicle floor is atypically clean. Beware the Merry Maids.
