What Kind of Spoon for your Pablum?

Once again, I am considering consolidating the communications and entertainment services which we buy. They are — and here's another spot where markup destroys the meaning of the paragraph (makes you wonder whether anybody at the W3C edits, doesn't it?) —

  1. Internet access
  2. telephony
  3. television

We are considering consolidation for two reasons:

  1. Cost
  2. 56kbps is painfully slow

You could even say that we're considering consolidation for one reason, cost, and Internet access just happens to be dragged into the picture.

The choice seems simple. Verizon doesn't yet offer HBO, and our house is this far from being close enough for DSL, while RCN offers the Complete Package. The question is whether it is cheaper to buy telephony service, as well as HBO and Internet access, from RCN, or to combine our wired and wireless plans in an Verizon Veriation.
