Laggard

Steve said, Except for some laggard apps [laughter] — you know which one. That would be Quark XPress for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of setting digital type. I've hated Quark for years, so I've little sympathy for those who are tied to it because of archives of 3.2 versions of their long documents. Then again, I haven't worked with Adobe InDesign yet, so can't say whether or not it is much of an improvement.

Every Day Something New

Every day I learn something I did not know. Clicking around the sites in close proximity to me, I found Ascription is an anathema to any enthusiasm, which kindly pointed out that I could list my neighbors using AnyWho. Thanks, AT&T, for checking required elements before submitting the form rather than before executing the query.

News Day

In case you haven't heard, today is Steve Jobs's keynote at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco. The keynote's a good show, if only for watching the bloopers. Who knows what surprises Steve has in store for us this time? Wild rumors from Merrill Lynch, of all places.
