Fence Me In

Good fences make good neighbors, it is said. Do they really? Are the fences themselves good neighbors? Do they cause your neighbors to be good?

Or is the phrase rendered poorly? Consider this variation:

Good fences, good neighbors make.

This too could be read that fences cause the neighbors to be good, but it does more. It equates the neighbors themselves and the fences. A good neighbor is a good fence.

A Poignant Moment

www.digital.com was recently relegated to being a CName for www.hp.com, with the consequence that requests for www.digital.com now report the site as running HP-UX, a poignant moment for the company that brought the world RSX, VMS, and Ultrix. [Netcraft]

I remember when DEC was DIGITAL. Looks like gatekeeper.dec.com is still itself, however.
