Dead Men Tell No Tales

According to a post on WebmasterWorld, Google's ranking for a domain will depend on whether or not the domain exists:
One resulting improvement with this index is better handling of expired domains — the authority for a domain will be reset when a domain expires, even though dangling links to the expired domain are still out on the web.
I would have expected Google to pay attention to WHOIS (RFC 954) before now, especially since new owners of a domain are often un-related to the former owners of a domain. The case could be extended to life, in that I may not supersede my father, though we bear the same name. Now, If a thing dies, then the attributes of that thing die. Which do you trust more? A dead man, or a live woman?

Ring

Today, in 1876:
"I then shouted into M [the mouthpiece] the following sentence: 'Mr. Watson--come here--I want to see you.' To my delight he came and declared that he had heard and understood what I said."
