Ours But to Do or Die

I spent the morning trying to determine what was preventing some file uploads. Looks like PEBKAC, resolved by removing the permission to write. Turns out that there's an issue in the FTP server that does not handle filenames which contain backslashes (\) well. For some reason it SEGFAULTed trying to fork() other children while the first-fork()ed child tried to write. Maybe our Crack Debugging Team in their Copious Free Time will determine the reason why.

The hardware and Keynote are nice and all, but I'm more interested in what's simmering under the covers. Denise Howell and Daniel Berlinger noted that TiVo can talk with friendly devices nearby. And that there's a mod_rendezvous for the band of Amerindians running on your systems. As Kevin Marks notes, Rendezvous answers many prayers.
